Hendrix House is led by the development firm New Empire Corp., whose New York City portfolio includes 208 Delancey Street on the Lower East Side, 14 Second Avenue in the East Village, The Neighborly and the recently launched Radiant in Long Island City, and the newly launched Centric in Woodside, Queens. Designed by DXA Studio, the development emphasizes elegant, bold, and minimalistic interiors tailored for residents seeking clean lines and a relaxed home environment.
All 59 studio to two-bedroom units are reached via smart lock entry, and interiors feature floor-to-ceiling windows, eight-inch plank flooring, abundant closet space, and in-unit laundry. Hendrix House is strategically positioned near the proposed Science Park and Research Campus (SPARC) Kips Bay, a $1.6 billion life sciences hub envisioned by the city and state government. The construction contract was announced in September 2024, and the first of two phases of construction is expected to begin in late 2025.
In addition to the hospitals and forthcoming life sciences hub, Hendrix House benefits from close proximity to Baruch College, Madison Square Park, critically acclaimed Gramercy restaurants, supermarkets like Fairway and Trader Joe's, and a robust nightlife scene on Third Avenue. Transportation options include the 23rd Street 6 train and the East 34th Street ferry terminal.
Kips Bay has also attracted attention in recent years amidst a growing scarcity of development sites in adjacent neighborhoods. In January 2023, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine published a report envisioning rezoning the west side of Second Avenue between East 23rd and East 34th streets, potentially adding up to 942 residential units.
